Turkey: More than just sunshine and holidays

For many people, the name Turkey is synonymous with sunny beaches and laid-back, relaxing holidays in the eastern Mediterranean. We very easily forget that this country also has a great history. Many historic monuments and archaeological discoveries show us not only the history of the region, but also give an indication that there was already a local stone industry present in ancient times. Especially since the beginning of the nineties, the Turkish marble industry has seen great expansion take place: the setting up and the starting of a variety of new quarries and the introduction of the most modern machines (mostly Italian) in the production companies, are the main strengths following this development. As a natural stone producer, Turkey is established in the top ten in the world and one can predict further growth in view of the enormous natural reserves of marble and limestone. Since 1997, BELTRAMI has offered the following Turkish materials:

  • CREMA DORLION (beige marble) in tiles 40/40/1.5 cm and random lenghts 30/1.5 cm, honed; wall tiles 30.5/30.5/1 cm polished and slabs 2 and 3 cm thick, honed or polished.
  • MORYA (beige marble) in random lenghts 30/2 cm, honed and (small) slabs 2 and 3 cm thick, honed.
  • ROSALIA LIGHT (beige marble with pink veining) in tiles 40/40/1.5 cm and random lenghts 30/1.5 cm, honed and slabs 2 and 3 cm thick, honed or polished.
  • SALOME (Bordeaux red-purple-grey shaded marble) in wall tiles 30.5/30.5/1 cm and slabs 2 and 3 cm, polished.
  • ROSA TEA (pink-beige marble) in polished slabs 2 and 3 cm thick.

New in 2000 is the clear limestone, ANTALYA CREAM, in tiles 40/40/1.5 and random lenghts 30/1.5 cm, honed; wall tiles 30.5/30.5/1 cm, polished and slabs 2 and 3 cm, honed. BELTRAMI works in Turkey with two exporting producers, who strictly follow the imposed quality and selection criteria. Sample boxes of these materials may be requested via the attached fax reply form.
