Problem-free adhesion for natural stones |
|
The trend towards the renovation of older houses and buildings is increasing at an unstoppable pace. In this situation the architect must more than ever choose a floor finish that can be stuck on to an existing tiled floor (where possible), or on to an existing surface. Until now, natural stone was mainly supplied in thicknesses of 1.5 or 2cm; only wall tiles of 30.5/30.5/1 cm could be easily fixed. The disadvantage is, however, that the chamfered edges prevent a good joint. Following the introduction of a special thick-bed adhesive (UNICOL WHITE), BELTRAMI invested in a calibrating machine for tiles and free lenghts of up to 60 cm wide. From the 1st May 2000 we will be able to supply you with most marbles and limestones in calibrations of 1.2 cm, 1.5 cm or 1.7 cm. This innovation simplifies tile laying - particularly for the adhesion of sizes 40/40 and 50/50. It is necessary to check carefully, to see if the old tiles or surface is sufficiently well insulated against rising damp. If in doubt an epoxy damp-shield must be used. In the damp-proof epoxy membrane (e.g. Eurocol 025), calibrated quartz sand is scattered e.g. (Eurocol 846), so that better tile adhesion may be achieved. After a drying period of around 12 hours, remove the surplus loose sand and then lay the tiles, using a flexible white adhesive (e.g. Eurocol 709). All information regarding our calibrated tiles and technical information concerning products and techniques for tile laying, are always available from our sales team. |
