Commercial classification
This classification is based on the origin and composition of natural stones. The materials are grouped according to their characteristics in connection with finishing, installation methods, use and maintenance.
Basalt Basalt is a very hard volcanic rock that can easily be compared to granite. Basalts mostly have a uniform grey shade. That's why they fit perfectly into a modern, almost minimalist decor.
Belgian blue stone Belgian Blue stone has a timeless character and is quarried in Carrières du Hainaut (which means quarry of Hainaut, in Soignies in the province of Hainaut) in Belgium. This compact, dark limestone was in earlier days mainly used for doorsteps and porches. But nowadays it's popular in all parts of the house, from kitchen through bathroom, for floors as well as for wall tiles. By the variety of finishing, Belgian Blue stone fits into every interior.
Granite Granite originates under high pressure in the deep layers of the earth, which makes it one of the hardest and therefore the most wear resistant kind of natural stone. That's why granite is often used for kitchen work surfaces and why it's also the perfect floor material for high traffic areas. Nevertheless granite is also a fragile material. e.g. it's not recommended to use granite in polished finish on the floor: grains of sand are harder than the polished surface and therefore scratches are more visible, especially on dark colours. Other characteristics of granite are its good resistance to dirt, its austere style and the use of the small joints. Granite shades mostly vary from light grey to black, although other colours exist. We would like to draw your attention to the popular Chinese granites that are inexpensive and show an excellent quality.
| Limestone We can distinguish 2 large groups: the softer and the harder limestones. The first group are the so called white stones: especially the French white stones ('the burgundy paving stones') have been popular, but for the past few years limestones from all around the world are imported. This creates an enormous choice in mostly warm, soft shades. These natural stones can't be polished and therefore they are always presented in a honed finish. The harder kinds are more compact and can be used in high traffic areas. Also in these stones Beltrami can provide an extensive and varied range of colours.

Calciferous sandstone The calciferous sandstones, we selected for you, always have a very soft, uniform colour. This uniformity makes them a real eye catcher. These stones are perfect for modern, austere interiors in low traffic areas and because these stones are quite porous we advise you to thoroughly impregnate the stones.
Quartzite Quartzite belongs to the harder types of natural stone. Quartzite is a cleaved stone. That is why it is usually offered in a natural cleft finish. This finish accentuates the rustic character of this material. The sparkling parts on the surface of this type of natural stone are quartz granules.
Slate Slate has been a huge success in recent years. This is above all due to the very favourable price/quality ratio. These stones are found in fine, compact layers in the quarry. The natural cleft surface gives a more rough appearance than the honed surface of other stones. We especially chose the Brazilian Montauk and Black Slate because of their neutral greyish shades and their unique surface. No doubt that the Indian Mayur will appeal to you by its rich range of colouring.
Marble Marble is a compact and hard kind of stone and has been used for ages in the building industry. The shades vary from white to black, sometimes green, yellow or red and mostly with veins or shade variations. Marbles originate from all over the world. It's often used as an ornamental element in bathrooms, where it can show either a modern or classical style. It is recommended to use a honed finish for flooring in this type of stone.
Sandstone With its natural cleft surface and variegated shades, this type of natural stone is particularly suitable for applications in rustic and rural surroundings. Some types are slightly more porous and therefore more suitable for the sunny side of the house.
