The brief given to London based architect Staffan Tollgard was to refurbish a London Town House to suit new requirements now that the clients children had left home.

This involved the creation of a luxury master bedroom suite incorporating a new bathroom.

Oriental influences were used to create a Japanese styled master bathroom and as the clients were not avid bathers, preferring showers; a Japanese bath tiled in honed ORIENTAL BASALT took up less space than a typical bath whilst being much deeper.

This made room for a luxuriously large shower-come-steam room utilising BELTRALINEA strips in honed PIETRA PIASENTINA.

Rather than attempting to compensate for the lack of a window, a cavern-like atmosphere was created using honed PIETRA PIASENTINA strips on the walls and honed ORIENTAL BASALT on the floor and counter top.

A back-lit Japanese shoji screen behind the bath gave extra illumination and along with other lighting sources was used to create different lighting 'scenes' for different moods.
