The architect chose for this bathroom the latest trend in natural stone: BELTRALINEA natural stone strips calibrated to a specific thickness. Here he opted for Brazilian BLACK SLATE in the format of 60x7x1 cm. This material was chosen because of the varying shades in warm greys and blacks and for its interesting natural cleft surface. Thanks to its very low porosity, this stone is extremely suitable for humid rooms like bathrooms, showers or wet rooms. An original way of placing the strips has been used by the architect: vertically attaching the strips on the wall enlarges the spatial and dimensional effect. Interestingly, he has also combined a random pattern in one part of the bathroom with a geometric pattern in a separate section. Installation was professionally undertaken by the company Vandenberghe from Oostende (BE). |
