Oriental Basalt honed

High traffic areas such as showroom floors require a stone with an excellent wear resistance such as the Oriental Basalt.

This marvellous installation in a fireplace showroom in Belgium used this stone because of its natural and neutral dark grey colour and it created a harmonious atmosphere which offset perfectly the soapstone cladding of the stunning wood burning stoves.

The size of the tiles was a major consideration for this project, therefore random lengths with a width of 30 cm were used. The choice was both inspired by aesthetic and budget considerations as well and this format perfectly shows off the interesting variety of grey shades inherent to basalt.
